Dementyev, Zhdan (mentioned in 1616-1630) is a Vologda iconographer and a choirman. In 1616, in company with priest Tikhon, he renovated old and painted new icons in the St. Sophia Cathedral in Vologda. As early as 1618, in partnership with Vasily Novgorodets, Dementyev painted a temple icon of St. Sophia the Wisdom of God and the icons of the prophets on the ambo pillars.

It is assumed that after 1626 Zhdan Dementyev moved to Moscow where he painted 25 icons of the forefathers for the Church of the Dormition of the Most Pure Mother of God in the St. Cyrill of Belozersk Monastery.
