Mother of God Great Panagia (Оranta), The

Date: XIII century. The first third 13th c.

Origin: From the Savior Monastery in Yaroslavl.

Material: Wood, tempera

Dimensions:  height 193,2 cm, width 120,5 cm

The Mother of God is represented full-length, in a frontal pose, with hands uplifted in prayer. On her breast is a golden cross with the half-figure of Christ Emmanuel. His hands are spread apart in a benedictory gesture. In the upper corners are the circles with the half-figures of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel holding the transparency with a cross.
