Our Lady of Tenderness with the Selected Saints

Date: XVI century. The beginning of the 16th century.

Iconographic school/art center:  Vologda.

Origin: From the church of Florus and Laurus on the Svid river in the Kargopolsky district.

Material: Wood, tempera

Dimensions:  height 69,8 cm, width 48,2 cm

The centerpiece represents shoulder-length depiction of the Mother of God keeping the Divine Child close to her (iconographic depiction of Our Lady of Vladimir). They are surrounded by the waist-length saints. Above is depicted the Deesis composition with the Savior Not Made by Hands.
