The Archangel is depicted as the archistratigus of the powers of the heaven riding a horse in armour. On the raised flat borders of the icon panel are St. Anastasia and St.Stephania. Over him, in the upper section is a waist-length picture of Christ-Emmanuel.

Archangel Michael, commander of awesome forces

The saint is depicted against the starry sky inside a medallion supported by angels. The Archangel Michael is portrayed riding a fiery horse. In his mouth is the Final Judgment trumpet. In his hands, linked by rainbow, he holds a book, a censer and a cross with which he is piercing Satan. In the upper field, in a segment of heaven with heavenly lamps is the figure of Jesus Christ standing behind the throne upon which there lie wine, bread, a cross and the Gospel.

Archangel Michael –

Archangel Michael is represented in the armor, his head covered with a crown, sitting on the fiery winged horse. His left hand keeping the reins is holding a cross and the instruments of Christ’s sufferings, his left hand is holding the Gospel book and the censer (these attributes symbolize the triumph of the New Testament church). In his mouth archangel Michael holds a trumpet which announces the Second Coming of Christ and the Last Judgment. Above his expanded wings is depicted the rainbow. In the upper right part of the icon in the quadrant is depicted the throne with the chalice, the Gospel book and the altar cross close to which is the image of Christ Emmanuel in the aureole. In the lower part of the icon under the limbs of the horse are depicted the defeated Satan and the overthrown town symbolizing the “perilous” world empires.

In his right hand he is holding a cross and a censer and his left hand is holding a Gospel book. Archangel is trumpeting the Second Coming of Christ and above his extended wings is depicted a rainbow.
